The FR Skates FR1 is an industry-standard skate. Whilst that’s only our opinion (as we don’t have any objective evidence to justify this argument), analysing customer feedback and the skate’s own incredible sales record, every skater should aim to use the FR1 once in their career and/or keep in their collection. But, what makes the FR1 so good?

The hard shell boot has undergone rigorous testing from elite athletes to ensure it offers both excellent performance and shock absorption. This means the skate is responsive whilst reducing road vibrations for a smoother ride. The boot's wide lace opening makes the fitment easy and accessible. The multi-positional cuff tailers ankle support to individual needs.

With improved liners and an Orthomove insole, FK buckle fastening, FR 90 frames and FR wheels, this industry-standard keeps on giving and will be a firm favourite of ours for years to come. Just having this skate on your foot feels great, before you've even pushed off.

The FR1 baseplate is a big part of what makes the skate shine, although it's hidden when in use.

The baseplate allows users to adjust the frame position in all directions to personalise the ride, strides, and push-offs. But, the top characteristic is its contribution to energy transfer. The plate works with the frame and boot to provide exceptional responsiveness without impacting the comfort of the skate.

Why would I choose 90mm instead of 80mm wheels? Bigger wheels mean more speed and more stability*. By stability, we mean that the base of the skate is longer than what you'd get with an 80mm wheel. This makes your forward and backwards motion(s) more stable. This may be desirable for beginners, tricks and urban skating at speed.
